Last blog post!

This is my last blog post! I thought I was never really going to get into blogging...but I was definitely wrong. I ended up having a lot of fun writing blog posts every week! In a way, it's kind of an expanded twitter to write about everything in your life. It was nice to have a place to talk about every thing I have done this semester. Blogging became a part of my life and it's going to be weird not doing it anymore. Who knows, maybe I'll keep blogging but most likely, I will get too busy to continue. Well, it was nice well it lasted. Bye Bye ED 447 bloggers!

My first field trip...as a chaperone!

Today was a great day...even if it started off at 6 am! Today was the day I FINALLY went on the field trip with the class I did my field work with! We went to Jenkinson's Aquarium and oh was it fun! Who knew that going to a tiny aquarium could be so much more fun with a bunch of first graders?! On the bus, and I would just like to thank Prof. Charsky for this, I sang songs with the students because they were getting a little too out of control! Never thought that class would actually come in handy one day! When we got to the aquarium almost everybody had to go to the bathroom...now that took up more time then our actual tour of the aquarium its self. So since I was a young volunteer and none of the other chaperones wanted to do it...I got to feed a shark! The kids were all amazed and thought it was the coolest thing ever...I got to admit that I kind of agree! When we were eating lunch at Jenkinson's pavilion, I noticed two little kids from another class I was with running out of the pavilion! I immediately started following them and everyone was wondering why I was running! Then more people started to realize and started to chase after the two boys too! I think we must have ran for almost a mile down the boardwalk until we finally caught up to them! What a crazy experience that was. On the bus ride back the students were all so tired they all fell asleep! It was a nice chance to relax after a nice workout! Overall it was a great field trip and I really enjoyed it! It was not only fun but a great learning experience!

Work work work

This past week I have had no life...like at all. I have been swamped with work and it still just never ends, seems like I will be doing work until the very last day of school! By this time of the semester, I usually have all my assignments done. I really don't understand why this semester my work load is CRAZY! I feel like I have done so much work just this weekend alone that its never going to end. On top of the work I have for all my classes I have been babysitting to earn more money! Currently sitting here typing this with a 6 month old baby next to me and the 3 year old in bed...so cute but so much work! Besides all the babysitting, I have still been working at the ice rink teaching lessons! Besides the fact that I barely see my friends anymore, I never get sleep either. The lack of sleep, the amounts of work, the no free time, it all adds up to make me want to cry. I have just been way to stressed out lately and it's really not healthy. I can't even say that I am looking forward to the semester ending just because it leads into me taking two night classes until the end of June! So much to do so little time! I definitely have good time management skills but sometimes it just doesn't seem to be enough lately. Anyone have any good advice for not stressing about everything? I could really use it at this point! I just want to relax!! Does anyone else feel this way?

Happiness is unexplainable

Today I was happy, and I know that's a very broad term but it was the happiest I have been in a long time. My day really wasn't even that eventful unless you consider going to the eye doctor and work super fun! Work was great I love teaching the two girls they are just funny and make anything eventful. How could teaching ice skating lessons be considered work? I guess when your doing something you love you just don't even realize how much time flies. I finished teaching around 3:40 then got to skate a little till the session ended. When I skate and I know this is going to sound dorky but I feel like I am the only one around....it just puts a smile on my face. Somehow after work when we all walked to the parking lot...nobody, not one person got in their car. We just all started talking in between two of our cars and it was really nice getting to know everyone at the rink...considering I'm still the newbie at the rink. Who sits in a parking lot from 4:30 to 8...just who does that!? We do! It was so much fun and we talked about everything you could think of...such random conversations took place. You know we have no life when the people from the day shift were still there when the people to work the night shift arrived and continued our little party in the parking lot. Working at the ice rink has made me happier. I have met some amazing people who I am definitely going to miss over the summer. I wish the rink could be open all year round but sadly all good things have to come to an end at some point. For now, I hope this happiness continues and I am going to keep living life the way it should be...not stressing about every little thing that comes along in life.

5k for Autism!

As Vice President of autism awareness club the 5k is the biggest event of the year that we have. This year was a huge success even if I was basically living in the center for the past week! On Thursday a bunch of volunteers including myself were at the center for about 3 hours. One of our tasks was sorting shirts...you would think that nothing weird or bad could happened with this...well you were wrong. One person would count the shirts and the other would fold. I was working with my friend Lindsay, she was folding and I was counting. While I was counting, I somehow ended up flicking shirts her way. Most of them hitting her in the face. I managed to form such a big pile of shirts between us that we started a game of shirt volleyball in the center hallway! That was only one of the many things we had to do in order to prepare for the 5k! We all got super hungry that night and ended up stealing 30 chicken fingers from the caf! I think we looked quite funny running across campus with all that food...but don't forget the ketchup and bbq sauce! Friday was the day before the race, I was in the center for 5 hours, but then I told them I had to leave when they went to give me more work! That night I tried going to bed early because I had to be up so early for the event...sadly I couldn't sleep! I kept getting out of bed packing more things that I needed to bring to the 5k! I must have got one hour of sleep that night tops! I was up sitting in my common room when my suitemate got back from bartending...that's when you know you have sleeping problems! I was up and ready at the Autism center at 6am Saturday morning running around like a maniac. I ran back and forth between the library lawn and the center so many times that I think I ran a 5k! Everything was set up by the time the rest of the club volunteers got there and I was still not tired surprisingly! Once everyone got their volunteer shirts we had to line the fun run! I somehow always end up running the fun run with the kids but I always have fun! After that we went on to run the kids games while the 5k run/walk started! I was a little upset that I never got my captains shirt after all the hard work I put in to this event but it was a political thing. Overall the whole event was fun and it was a huge success! I'm glad I was a part of raising money for such a great cause! Hope everyone had as much fun as I did, even if you were working hard. I CAN'T WAIT TO INTERN AT THE CENTER! Thank you to everyone who helped out!

Where did Easter break go?

Easter Break went by way too fast! I had so much work I had hoped to get done and that did not really happen. This long weekend I finally got my birthday present, an IPad3 yay!! I was really happy about this and I am addicted to playing games on it! Definitely distracting and one of the things that kept me from doing my homework this weekend!

One of the other things I did this weekend was teach the end of my group ice skating class! I loved my class, they were all so cute...even if they all thought they were little piggies. Teaching about six little kids how to ice skate, is not the easiest job but it is definitely entertaining...is that bad to say? One of the most challenging things for me was that the kids were all different levels...even if they were all supposed to be on levels tot 3 and tot 4. Since Saturday was the last class, my class asked me if they can hug me at the end. When they went to hug me they almost knocked me down! I am going to miss my little piggies a lot hopefully I will see them again next season!

Easter Sunday was a lot of fun. At church, I ended up having to hide all the eggs in the playground for the little kids. This was a little harder than it sounds because I was in wedges and the rubber tires were not good for walking on...I fell once, good thing nobody saw. After church, we headed down the shore where we met up with the rest of my moms side of the family. Every year my family ends up going down the shore on Easter, and somehow we always end up playing football on the beach...all dressed up. I have got to say that we get some pretty weird looks from other families. Seeing my family was really nice and we always all have fun.

Overall, break was really fun and way too busy. Hope everyone enjoyed their break as well!

Going to miss Hillside so much!

It is coming to the end of the 40 hours of observation that I needed for ED 340 this semester, kind of sad. I have had the best experience of my life so far and I am really going to miss the class, especially my supervising teacher. She has been such a great help to me and has really taught me so much! Doing my field work has not been a drag at all, I have really enjoyed it. My supervising teacher has invited me to continue coming for the rest of the school year to work with the kids! On Monday, when I was there, she gave me subbing papers for the school for me to fill out when I finish this semester. I can't wait to legally sub! I am already planning on going back to the school for the play that the entire first grade class performs, I am helping the students learn their parts and I am also making costumes! I think the thing I am most excited for is the field trip I am going on with my class! We are going to Jenkinson's Aquarium and I am super excited! I have not been here since I was a little girl. I used to love it there and this day will be so much fun!

I am thankful for everything that has happened to me just through my observations. I learned a lot, got to do some really cool and fun things, and best of all had a great time doing it all. I really don't want this experience to end! Never thought it would be so enjoyable waking up early and spending hours on end in an elementary school then going to class...I was definitely wrong! I want to get my supervising teacher a little present, does anyone have any ideas?! Please help me!

LUKE BRYAN AND JASON ALDEAN CONCERT!!

BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! Not only did I get to go to see to of my favorite country artists but I got to spend the entire night with one of my best friends, Nicole! I'll start from the beginning...do not let Nicole give you directions even when you are following a gps because she will tell you that the gps is wrong! Getting to the concert was an interesting drive blasting music all the way there and almost getting lost was the best part. When we got there bought our t-shirts right away no delaying that for sure. When we got to our seats, we were AMAZED at how good our seats were! We had the perfect view!
Lauren Alaina opened up, only the two of us didn't really know any of her songs. Pretty bad on our part! Then up next was LUKE BRYAN he is our ABSOLUTE favorite country artist ever! We honestly thought we were going to faint when we saw him come on stage! Of course he opened with one of our favorite songs, Rain is a good thing! His performance was so fantastic! I loved every minute of it. I don't think there was one song he sang where we didn't know the words! I will love Luke Bryan forever...along with the millions of other girls that listen to country music!
I gotta admit I did not want Luke Bryan's set to end but Jason Aldean was also so very amazing! Definitely did not know as many words but still so enjoyable! During his set is when people next to us got a little too drunk and kept bumping into us! We felt a little squished together, kind of like we were sharing one seat. Jason Aldean's music definitely is a different type of country than Luke Bryan's music. Given the fact that I like pretty much all country music made for a pretty great night!
This was only my second country concert in my lifetime but it is probably one of the best concerts I will ever go to in my life! Not only was the music great but we had great seats and I got to spend the entire night with a person I love so much! Nicole definitely makes things more enjoyable! If any of you ever get to know her like I do, shes completely hilarious and she really doesn't mean to me! Best part of the night was when Luke Bryan made a noise that sounds like Nicole's trademark sound! Only his sounds more like a cat purring and she sounds more like an Indian yelling! I hope everyone else there had as much fun as we did! Happy 21st birthday Nicole!<3 I hope you enjoyed it!

BEST NIGHT EVER!<3

Oh what a weekend in Florida...

Oh what a weekend oh what a wedding! Well it was definitely not a good start to my weekend we got to the airport on time...only to find out our flight was delayed for two hours! When we finally got to the hotel I was amazed to see swans in the hotel lobby! They are two brothers Frederick and Ronald...two of the sweetest swans ever! We went exploring and saw the biggest tree ever...I felt like I was in It's a Bug's Life or something! I climbed the tree and got stuck haha of course...luckily my friend Jake was there to help me get down! After that I went for a ride on Jake's grandfathers yacht! This yacht is bigger than my dorm room and my house combined.

That's the tree and the really big boat at the end is the one I went on! It was the best time of my life! Clearly I need to move to Florida...and marry rich =P. The next day we went exploring yet again! I felt like Dora the Explorer! We went to a outdoor mall place and it was really fun. Had homemade gelato and it was the best I have ever had!

That night was the rehearsal dinner...first time seeing this side of the family in five years! It was nice to catch up with everyone although none of us have really changed. My cousin Louie ended up getting pushed in the water by the groomsmen because he wouldn't buy the next round of shots! Guess he learned his lesson! Then it was time for the Wedding! If you remember me saying how I had never met the bride although I was a bridesmaid and she told us all to wear whatever pink dress we wanted? Yea well we looked FANTASTIC! I think this wedding was the biggest disaster I have ever seen! Although my cousin Anthony is very happy with Jennifer, they might have wanted to plan this better! The wedding was overall a good time! Here's the happy couple...

This weekend was the first time I met my cousins daughter Madison! I absolutely adore this little girl! She is two years old and I met her at the rehearsal party. All at dinner she wanted to sit with me and at the wedding the next day...she did something not so nice but funny. Madison was the flower girl and she ran up the aisle and threw the petals at the bride than ran right to my lap! At the family BBQ the next day she played with me the whole time! I love this little girl and I miss her already! Overall it was a very good weekend! Definitely not what I had expected...although I did leave out the bad details!

Little kid at heart...that's one thing that will never change

This is the first week I have not seen the students I have been working with! I can honestly say I miss them so much! I won't be able to see them till next Wednesday! It stinks not being able to go and work with them for so long. Guess this a preview for the end of every school year, when my class moves up to the next grade level. I guess you can say I am definitely looking forward to next Wednesday!

This 5 day weekend has been absolutely amazing! After all the troubles I have had with my shoulder, after three years I was able to ice skate again. First time back on the ice honestly felt so amazing, never thought that I would still be able to do jumps and spins (of course I was a little rusty). I not only got to skate for fun but I was able to teach all in one day! I taught a group class and a private lesson. It was probably the most fun I had all of break. My first private lesson ended up being a 5 year old girl with autism. Two things that I truly care about in life tied together, it was so great. Her parents were really amazed at how well I was able to work with her. I guess everything in life ties together some how. Thanks to Bridget for getting me back on the ice, I really enjoyed it. We have to do it more often! The next day I went line dancing at Colorado Cafe! It was so much fun I almost rode Buck-Off the bull but chickened out. Don't worry, I embarrassed myself enough dancing...considering I am one of the most uncoordinated people on the planet. This weekend I also made a bunch of little things that someone gave to me for free. I think I am going to give them to the students I work with. I don't really know what they are called but they are the little beads you iron together to make different things like a dinosaur or a whale...personally I think they are awesome. Not going to lie I kind of enjoyed making all of them...guess that is what happens when you have a lot of spare time on your hands. Here is a picture of two of them that still need to be ironed! Wally the Whale and Dina the Dinosaur! Honestly one of the best weekends in a long time! Hope everyone had as much fun over break as I did!
