My first field trip...as a chaperone!

Today was a great day...even if it started off at 6 am! Today was the day I FINALLY went on the field trip with the class I did my field work with! We went to Jenkinson's Aquarium and oh was it fun! Who knew that going to a tiny aquarium could be so much more fun with a bunch of first graders?! On the bus, and I would just like to thank Prof. Charsky for this, I sang songs with the students because they were getting a little too out of control! Never thought that class would actually come in handy one day! When we got to the aquarium almost everybody had to go to the bathroom...now that took up more time then our actual tour of the aquarium its self. So since I was a young volunteer and none of the other chaperones wanted to do it...I got to feed a shark! The kids were all amazed and thought it was the coolest thing ever...I got to admit that I kind of agree! When we were eating lunch at Jenkinson's pavilion, I noticed two little kids from another class I was with running out of the pavilion! I immediately started following them and everyone was wondering why I was running! Then more people started to realize and started to chase after the two boys too! I think we must have ran for almost a mile down the boardwalk until we finally caught up to them! What a crazy experience that was. On the bus ride back the students were all so tired they all fell asleep! It was a nice chance to relax after a nice workout! Overall it was a great field trip and I really enjoyed it! It was not only fun but a great learning experience!

  5. That sounds like a lot of fun! I used to be a camp counselor and field trips were always an adventure! As for feeding the shark, I could never do that, but it definitely is cool!

  6. That sounded like a lot of fun! It was definitely a great experience and preview of what it will be like on other field trips with young kids. It does sound like a lot of work but fun at the same time! Plus you got a nice work out in there as well!
